Legacy
You've watched the children of Avaleigh's Boys as they came into the world. They've taken their time, grown up with role models that not everyone is fortunate enough to have. Some have found success, others have made mistakes, and others still struggle to figure out what it is that they want. But one thing is for sure where they are all concerned; they're ready. It's their time now.

Brandt's Rule

Legacy, Book 1

“You ever think you got things organized, lined up like it’s supposed to be, everything’s good in your world, and then something completely unexpected falls into the middle of your plans like a bomb, making everything scatter into a million pieces and proving to you that you don’t have control of a single thing?”

“Um, no,” Ronan answered.

“Yeah, me neither,” Brandt said.

Brandt was raised in a shifter clan. It was apparent from a very young age, that Brandt — a Black Bear shifter — would be Alpha of the new generation. He has embodied that calling through character, strength, control, and honesty all of his life. As his cousins moved on and up in pursuit of their dreams, he’s held down the fort at home, making sure they all had a safe, secure place to come back to when the time was right. He’s more than happy with the life he chose. The only thing that is still a question to him is who his mate will be. He’s watched the generation before him made better, stronger even, when they met their mates, and he looks forward to the same. Which is why he’s thrown for a loop when the female that crashes into his life manages to do just the opposite.

Tempest has been lonely all her life. Sure, she had family who adored her, but she had no real friendships to speak of. It wasn’t that she did anything to make herself stand apart, she was just too powerful. The paranormals in her community could feel it rolling off her in waves — especially the children she so wanted to play with. They feared her. Now that she’s an adult she’s decided it’s time to move on. To find the place she can be herself, accepted and not feared. Unfortunately, the place she’s chosen to settle has one thing she didn’t count on. Her mate. And he’s doing everything he can to push her away despite sneaking around her place when he thinks she’s not aware he’s there. It’s fine. She’s used to being ostracized. It’s nothing new, and nothing she can’t handle. She doesn’t need him anymore than he needs her. The fact that his friends and family welcome her… well that’s just the icing on the cake. Makes it kinda fun to push his buttons.

Flowing silver hair, emerald green eyes, and more power than any one being has a right to hold within themselves is exactly what fate has planned for Brandt. And he’s not impressed. She doesn’t make him stronger. She doesn’t even soothe him. She drives him to the brink of losing his temper. She torques him intentionally at every turn, and takes pleasure in it! How can the fates have possibly thought sending him this female was the thing he needed most?!

Havoc's Fox

Legacy, Book 2

Fated mates shouldn’t know each other as children. They should be able to grow, experience and evolve just like everyone else, then find their mates after they’ve grownup. Unfortunately for Havoc and Analise, they grew up together from infancy. Mistakes were made, hearts were broken, and they went their separate ways. But now, fate is tired of waiting. It’s time to see this thing through.

Years ago, Analise walked away from family, home, and all that she held dear. She’d had no choice, either walk away, or suffocate from the unending pain surrounding everything that once represented safety to her. It turned out to be the right decision at the time. Her life is more than she’d ever dreamed it would be. She travels the world visiting various archaeological digs and is highly respected in her field of artifact identification and restoration. She’s got a friend to spend time with when it’s convenient for her, who’d very much like to be called more than friend. And she’s moved on from the heartbreak of her childhood. She’s fulfilled, more-or-less.

Havoc has spent the last six years raising his daughter, being both father and mother to her. She’s what keeps him going. He’s not interested in anything or anyone else. He’s built a successful career in the construction industry, but despite that, he’s never outgrown the need to prove himself as a good male. It stems from the fact that he broke the heart of his fated mate while still in high-school. He hadn’t meant to, he’d just been a dumb kid, stumbling around trying to find his way. But he’d hurt her nonetheless. Despite there being no hope for them, he’s never stopped loving her. There will never be another for him. So, he spends his days being the best father he can be, the best employee, the best male. Since he’s unable to change the past, it’s all he can do to make an uneasy peace with the past.

Neither Havoc nor Analise has been home since their traumatizing break-up as teenagers. They’ve each moved on in their own way. The thing is, though, neither has ever forgotten. And lately, something is calling them back to the place it all began for them as children. They both inexplicably feel the need to go home. Some would call it the holidays, or even homesickness. They’d be wrong. It’s fate. Fate is tired of waiting. It’s time to see this thing through.

Emmalyn's Strength

Legacy, Book 3

Emmalyn has spent her life being stronger, bolder and more independent than just about any other female her age. She’d never had a problem going toe to toe with any male, regardless of their stature, but that was probably because she was born a Bear shifter. Her very nature prepared her for the career she ran head first into since graduating the Academy in Quantico. She’s a profiler for the FBI, and a very good one at that. The only thing that’s ever frightened her at all was her mate. They grew up together as children, but the mate thing only came to light near the end of their high school years. Still, it was enough to send her running for the hills of Quantico, Virginia. No matter how much she cared about him, and she did, there was no way she’d give up her independence, her strength, her sense of self to be somebody’s mate. You admit you need anyone it’s an indication that you can’t take care of yourself, isn’t it? Let some of yourself go, in order to become part of a couple? Nope. Not happening, no way she was going to allow any male, not even her beloved Barron, to rob her of the strength and self-reliance it took her years to perfect.

Barron has always been easy going and laid back. Born of two Alpha shifters, he was strong enough to assume the leadership of their shifter clan — if he wanted it. He didn’t want it. He wasn’t interested in becoming Alpha and leading them all into the next generation. All he wanted was to run his father’s construction business, build a home, and prepare that home for the time his too-stubborn-for-her-own-good mate would finally realize her place was beside him and return to him. He knew she feared settling down, and he knew why. But he also knew that with him beside her, she’d be stronger than she already was. As soon as she accepted that together they were both stronger, she’d stop fighting becoming his mate. Making her realize that may take some time, though. She was just as stubborn as she was strong. But that was okay, he’d give her all the time she needed. The one thing he had more of than anyone else in their shifter clan was patience. Slow and steady would win out. Or would it?

Moving too slowly, allowing her too much room to keep her distance might just cost her her life. What neither of them planned for was one of the criminals she’d profiled tracking her back home and making her the center of his twisted plan for vengeance. But he has. And now he’s embedded so deeply on their home turf, hidden so well, that Emmalyn has no idea she’s about to deliver herself right into his hands. Has she run again, or is she in need of saving for the first time in her life?

Legacy HellGator Med.jpg
Hell's Gator

Legacy, Book 4

-Hellen or 'Hell' as she's known to her family-

Hellen tossed a shovel full of dirt onto the gator’s body. Her breath caught as the animal twitched. Jumping down into the hole where the gator she presumed was dead lay on its back, she pressed her head against the animal’s chest, listening for a heartbeat. Detecting no sound at all, Hellen stood back and looked down at the gator critically. She didn’t want to bury it if it wasn’t dead, but wasn’t sure if he was or not. Suddenly an idea struck. Hellen stood, then dropped her body onto the gator while slamming the back of her elbow into its chest. Then she pressed her head against the animal’s chest and listened. One single beat of its heart answered her effort to get its heart beating. Hellen stood up excitedly, adrenalin pumping through her at the idea that she might manage to save it. Aiming for the gator’s chest again, she dropped her body onto the injured creature's upper body once more. She pressed her ear to its chest hoping for another heartbeat. But what she heard instead was a deep, threatening growl. “It’s alive!” she exclaimed, jumping quickly out of the would-be grave. Circling around to see its face, she managed to get a good look at its one remaining eye. What she saw sent a chill through her. One very clear, very blue, human eye gazed at her from beneath the gator’s reptilian lid. “You’re a shifter! I’m going to get you out of there, and find somewhere to shelter you. Just hold on!” Hellen teetered precariously on the edge of the would-be grave and grabbed ahold of the gator’s tail. He growled again when she began pulling with all her might to get him out of the hole she’d dumped him in. “And don’t bite me! I’m trying to help you!”

~ Lucien ~

Lucien lay on a pallet in a makeshift shelter the irritating female had built around him. He breathed heavily, his huge body sweating as he fought off the infection from the gunshot wounds. Yes, wounds — three of them. One in the back of his skull, and two in the chest, along with gashes across his body from the propeller of a boat. He’d been lying here for weeks, just barely clinging to life as the female did all she could to keep him breathing. In his opinion it was the least she could do, since she’d tried to bury him alive. Movement from her side of the shelter caught his attention, and he watched her warily as she approached him.
“Hey, are you awake? I have to go. I’m needed at home, and I’ve been putting it off. I can’t wait anymore.”
He hissed at her.
“You’re stable enough to be alone for a few days. I’m leaving my water bottles and what little food I have left. I’ll move it all closer so you can get to it easily. If you can manage to venture out, please don’t. I don’t know if the people that did this to you are still around. I’ll be back in a couple of days.”
He opened his mouth and hissed at her more fiercely than he had before.
“If you keep that up, I won’t come back.”
He closed his mouth, but still glared at her.
Minutes later he lay there listening to her four-wheeler driving away, deserting him during one of the only times in his life he’d ever needed anybody. “How dare she?” he thought. He spent the next three hours dragging himself a few inches at a time toward the slivers of sunshine that fell through the small shelter’s opening. She’d given him no choice but to try to track her — even in his weakened condition. She needed to learn that mates don’t leave one another to die alone.
