Brain Ramblings From Sandra R Neeley!

Good afternoon!

I have been busy fellow bibliophiles. I have one book on preorder, two books in edits, and another in process - I spend hours each day writing until my mind is mush!

That's what this email is all about, letting you know what's coming down the pipe from me so you can be as excited about it as I am. So, let's get to it. First, let's touch on the book that's on preorder. It's part of a series called, 'Astrological Mates' with eleven other authors contributing to the series as well. Here's its cover...

Now available for PRE-ORDER!

Leo's Captive

Book 5 in the Astrological Mates Series.

It’s been twenty years since the event known as ‘The Convergence’ occurred and changed the world. Life on Earth has changed — for some more drastically than for others.

Jocelyn didn’t ascribe to her family’s ‘doomsayer’ philosophies. The Convergence was not the end of the world in her opinion, rather, it opened the door for endless opportunities. And now, she’d finally broken free of both the California Wild Lands, and her family’s ideology. Granted, a job on the cleaning crew at the air force base, was not the opportunity she’d always dreamed of, but it was a step toward it. She was meeting people — of all species — and she was standing on her own in the world, ready for the next step. The next step, however, was not supposed to be the entire base in lock down, searching for her, as she desperately looked for a way to escape.

Kasar understood exactly how he’d been coerced into being the lead negotiator with Earth. But that didn’t make him any happier about it. He didn’t want their natural resources, their pathetic technology, or any of their females as a mate, and he especially didn’t want to be here. He’d maintained his stance that Earth should be left on their own due to their self-destructive nature, despite the fact that his opinions had fallen on deaf ears. Now, though, a human female has assassinated a superior officer on the base his delegation is currently visiting, both proving his point, and effectively ending negotiations. At least he’s finally on his way home, and looking forward to getting back to life as he knows it. It shouldn’t be long until he arrives, unless of course he’s blown out of orbit for assisting the murderous female he’s just found hiding on his ship!

This book is a work of fiction. All characters and situations are products of the author’s imagination.

Now... for the books I have in edits.

As we speak, er, read, my betas are working on

Lily's Dragon.

Have you read my Whispers From the Bayou series? If so, then you know Carnage (Book 1) and his little daughter, Lily. Well, Lily has grown up, folks. She's an adult, and she's tired of waiting for her forever, and tired of waiting for answers about her past that Lore always seems to evade. Lily's Dragon is book 8 in the series, and is her story. Here's a little bit about it and its cover immediately afterward.

About This Book

Lily's Dragon, Whispers From the Bayou, Book 8

Lily’s lived a unique existence — over and over again. Cursed to relive a painful existence as punishment her father warranted when she was first born to him, she’s always been lonely, never been accepted. Until now. But having found the acceptance she craves, she still longs for someone to share her life with. The problem with that, is she can’t find him without the answers an ancient she now calls ‘uncle’ won’t share with her. Giving up hope and done with begging, lies and deception, she leaves all she knows behind to strike out on her own, to forge a path not rooted to a past kept hidden from her.

Carrik has spent countless centuries standing in a clearing in the swamps of Louisiana. Most see him and think he’s an amazing tree. He’s not a tree. He’s a Dragon. Caught in the crossfires of punishment dealt to his mate’s father lifetimes ago, he’s cursed to stand for eternity or until his mate recognizes and claims him — whichever comes first. He’s seen her over the years, different faces, different names, but always the same soul. The problem is that she has no memory of him, and those that do aren’t willing to share their secrets. So, he stands, having lost all hope, deriving a way to wreak vengeance on those who stole his life and love from him.

A few misspoken words from a heartbroken young woman awaken a Dragon Tree, and send him rampaging through a landscape that hasn’t seen a live Dragon in so long almost none remember they truly existed. Almost. Those that do remember rush to save their community, calm the Dragon, make peace with him. But how can they do that when the one thing he wants, the one woman who can soothe his soul, is nowhere to be found?

Next in edits, and headed to my betas as they finish Lily's Dragon, is a quick little read (37,000 words) that I call Thorns of Blood. Thorns is a fairy tale retelling. I wrote it more than a year ago, and have been sitting on it ever since. It'll be going live right after Lily's Dragon. Here's a little bit to give you an idea of what to expect from it... Have you ever heard that there are two sides to every story? Do faerie tales REALLY have the happy endings people think they do? And is the villain really the villain if the hero is always the one telling the story? Welcome to a world of vampires, betrayal, and a truly never-ending love story. A retelling of a beloved tale of a sleeping princess and the hero who saves her. Just from a different perspective and with vampires thrown in... Yes! Vampires! Not all beauty is good. Not all darkness is evil. Unfortunately, beauty can often hide evil. Morrigan is the flawlessly beautiful princess, cursed to sleep forever. Fairuza is the evil faerie queen, who’s cursed not only Morrigan, but the land and village surrounding Morrigan’s castle. But all is not as it seems, as Prince Alexi, pure of heart, soon finds out. You’ll see for yourself the true origins of a beloved childhood fairy tale. Though it’s actually a ‘Faerie Tale’, and to this day the facts are often skewed. Read on, as we learn the truth behind the faerie tale of the beautiful sleeping princess and the Thorns of Blood.

And finally, as I mentioned, I'm working on another story. This one is a SciFi Romance, and will be a novella, easily read in a few hours. At the moment, I've not constructed a blurb (I hate blurbs). You know what writing a blurb is like? It's like saying, 'Hi, I've taken the time to pour my heart and imagination into an 80,000 word story I'd like to share with you. What was that? You'd like me to condense the story down to a 350 word summary for you to decide if it's worth reading?

Seriously? How are writers expected to compress their beloved tales into barely any words at all. Anyway, I digress... I'm having fun with this story. It's working title was 'New World', but lately I've been referring to it as 'Foray'. We shall see what it ends up being called. I'll keep you posted.

It's a cute, fun read with lots of smiles and a little heat coming your way. Maybe in December, hopefully in December. As soon as I get a cover for it, I'll share it with you, and I'll choose a snippet to post on my website soon.

And as always, to each and every one of you, thank you for your support. Thank you for allowing me to support my family by doing what I love most - creating worlds for those of us who need a break from adulting to disappear into for a short while. I appreciate each of you, and wish you well.

More to come soon, thanks for letting me ramble.
